Hulk #81 cover in color

You sitting down? I sure hope so because if you’re standing and typing, that’s just kinda weird.

Behold the finalized cover to Hulk #81:

  1. I often stand while typing…i work in a cubicle sitting all day and sometimes standing at the desk (it rises and lowers on command) feels better.

  2. Wow! That is amazing!

Oh, and that poor, poor horse, having to support the Hulk’s weight. Hope he’s somehow related to Comet!

  3. You’ll note that the horse isn’t moving…I’d wager that by this time its hooves have permanently bonded to the ground.

  4. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for the comic and the cover.

  5. Now Ill buy the Hulk for the great art instead of the slipshod writing. Maybe Ill be saying this in a few years.

  6. Pretty nice. But where in the world did Hulk find a horse big enough for him to fit on? 🙂

  7. Funny, when I first saw the black and white version, I assumed it was the grey Hulk on the horse. He just sorta had that rough and tumble Joe Fixit attitude about him.
Still, very nice picture. I’m looking forward to reading the issue as well.

    good job lee

  9. I like to lie down and type. Makes everything look oblong.

Okay okay, I’ll stop. Looks good Peter. Can’t wait to see it.

  10. “Hulk drivin’ down road, Hulk flirtin’ with disaster…”

Ye cats! That image looks even BETTER in color! I can hear the sound of Graphitti’s silkscreeners mass-producing the shirt, even now!

Oh, and from what I’ve heard, Hemingway wrote standing up, too!

  11. Any chance of seeing a Fallen Angel #21 cover?

    Pretty please?

Maybe I should be sending this request to DC instead.

  12. Well, Marvel sure are marketing genuises, because everybody knows that a female version of a popular male hero is a sure thing. After all, it’s a popular hero—with breasts! I mean, Spider-Man is the most popular hero at Marvel, so a Spider-Woman comic ought to sell like hotcakes, huh? Or, how about a Spider-Girl comic–that one would never be in danger of being cancelled. A female Hulk ought to be able to weather changes of creator and never have to be relaunched again and again, I’d bet. A female version of the Thing replacing Ben Grimm in the FF? That’s gold, baby, gold.

And even better, since creating and developing intriguing, worthy new characters is kinda difficult and unpredictable, why not just launch teen versions of your four most powerful heroes? After all, everybody loved Muppet Babies, Flintstone Kids, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and James Bond, Jr.–haven’t each and every one of these properties grown to be more popular and familiar than the originals? What was so popular in the eighties, therefore, can’t fail: by gum, it will be the most popular and influentual comic of the 21st century!

    House of “Ideas,” hooey.

  13. I’m so sorry. I posted this to the wrong thread. (Hangs my head in shame and slinks away). Please feel free to delete it.

    That’s a wonderful cover.

    (hides in shame)

  14. It seems to me that PAD’s steering the title toward a more Mantlo-esque, “tree at the crossroads of the universe” psychedelic direction. Am I right, PAD? If so, I applaud. It’s a very refreshing change of pace from the decidedly unfantastic tone of the book in recent years. Seems like the idea of Hulk suddenly discovering the ability to breathe water is farfetched, but then so is the whole idea of, you know, the Hulk. I haven’t been here in a while; is it true that PAD will be on the book indefinitely?
What did Lee Weeks do previously?
Has PAD ever commented on the Jones era?

  15. luv it! frank frazetta is my favourite traditional artist. yes, it’s a great spin on frazetta’s ‘death dealer’. beautifully done.
