We just got a copy of the cover to #1 in color, and so we pass it on to you.

Cool! 😉
Maybe it’s just me, but the whole premise reminds me of Angel or Team Angel if you will. Not that it’s a bad thing. Could be that I am missing seeing the 5th and final season and got into the Angel game late, last year when they showed seasons 1-4 on TNT.
Ah well…either way, MadroX will be mine 🙂
Interesting. Took me bit to figure out that those shapes on the wall are shadows of multiples. Nice design concept.
Oh, no… people are gonna start accusing PAD of ripping Joss Whedon again.
Creative people think alike, and are able of creating different good stories, even from (sometimes, too)similar situations.
Personally, I enjoy the concept. I did enjoy PAD’s run in X-Factor, and it’s nice that he’s gonna tackle these characters again.
When will it be released? What’s the lenght of the Mini Series?
Looking Forward to it.
Who’s the artist?
Pablo Raimondi.
I don’t think that’s a Raimondi cover.
Looks like David Lloyd, maybe … ?

Nope, just making a comparison and it’s a good one IMHO.
I’ll definitely be picking this up. I haven’t read any of PAD’s X-Factor run, but I’m still looking forward to this. He always puts a new spin on characters and ideas that have been around the block a few times. This is the guy that made Aquaman interesting, after all…
Hmm…Does MadroX eat HydroX? —I see potential for a DC crossover of Jamie vs J’onn Jonzz
“Hmm…Does MadroX eat HydroX? —I see potential for a DC crossover of Jamie vs J’onn Jonzz…”
You mean some sort of Hydrox vs. Oreo thing?
“Do not force your pale imitation cookies upon me, Earthman! I shall eat only the true original Oreos with my milk!”
The shadows also kinda evoke the design on Madrox’s old costume/ new t-shirt. Kinda. If you squint and tilt your head to the side. Yeah.
Kind of reminds me of Breyfogle.
It’s a nice piece of art, nice design. I’m not sure how effective it is for a comic cover, especially a number 1. I’m not suggesting that the cover need be a “hero spotlight” piece, either.
The character is somewhat known, but is not A-List so the subtly of the cover is likely lost on the majority of potential (casual) readers. I’m not sure if the tone PAD is setting up is noir, but the cover does suggest that the book is leaned toward a kind of 100 Bullets tone. The risk is that the book is not as noir as the cover OR that those expecting that don’t buy ito the Mutant Town or mutant angle.
I understand that this cover may be trying to tap into a Watchmen or V For Vendetta type style, but this piece seems to capture the essence but miss the strengths of those works.
I’m just suggesting that the cover for the number one should establish the character of the book within a design, and this cover tells nothing and suggests a style I’m not sure the book will represent (I’m basing this on the limited information available about MadroX and PAD’s comicon interview).
A friend pointed me to this blog, and I have to admit, the news of the Madrox limited series is the best news I’ve heard in the comic book world in years. Peter David’s run on X-Factor is, in my mind, one of the best as far as the world of “X-Teams” goes, and with Madrox, it looks like there will be a return to one of my favorite periods in comics. I haven’t bought comics in near ten years now, but I’ll definitely be sure to get this one. Thanks for sticking with it, Pete.

In his series before the PAD series, Aquaman told J’onn that he prefers Hydrox. Hmmmm…
It’ll be good to see Madrox back to his old self again. Or selves. I really didn’t care much about Madrox (or Guido) until PAD’s X-Factor run. Ever after abandoning the X-Men universe many years ago, I always wondered what those crazy knuckleheads were up to. Now I’ll get a good answer!
Good call. The cover was indeed by David Lloyd.
PAD
By the way, I want to make a point of mentioning that it was Pascal who made the cover available to us, by e-mailing it to me even before I got a color print from Marvel. Guy’s got sources, I’ll give him that.
PAD
Is David Lloyd going to do all the covers in the mini-series? I hope so, because I miss seeing his work, which definitely has a “noir” look to it. Where’s he been recently?
My favorite mutant character ever gets his own limited… I really liked your run on X-Factor run and even thought I don’t usually buy american comics on previews (it’s cheaper to wait till they get published by our local spanish publisher) I buy this one for sure.
Tony Randall will be missed.
