Fallen Angel #10 cover

Once again, in the proof of the power of the blog, the cover to Fallen Angel #10.

Why so powerful? Well, if everybody visiting this site buys a copy, then we have pretty big sales figures. Whether this is a comment on the power of the web or the softness of comic sales in general is left to the reader…

  1. This website helps. I bought the first few issues of FA. Cooled off on it, but now have picked up the last 2, and plan to buy the next to see how this arc plays out. I’m intermittent with Captain Marvel too. I got into the series about midway before the reboot, but picked up the trade and then back issues. With the renumbering, I bought the first few issues. Cooled off, but this blog has made me purchase CM intermittentyl. I doubt I’d pick up either title again if I wasn’t a daily reader (a couple of times a day to tell the truth).

Loved Stone and Anvil by the way, and I hope your given one of the mainstream books by one of the big 2. You definitely would breathe life into anyone of them, take your pick, Superman, Spiderman, etc. I’d definitely would like to see your take on the Big S. As always, I appreciate this website and the opportunity you give us. Thanks-JimO

  2. My biggest problem has been actually getting copies. My local store got in my previews orders for the first 3 but I haven’t seen an issue since. If it wasn’t for this site I would have assumed it was cancelled. Now he’s trying to make up for his blunder by finding me the copies he missed. I believe he got the last two in but he agreed to hold them for me while he tries. It’s stuff like this that makes me want to wait for the TPB. Of course, no telling if there will actually BE one. Liked what I read, though.

  3. Constantly gorgeous covers, gorgeous interiors, and wonderful writing. One of my favorite series on the stands right now.

Peter, any word on a TP? (I know, I know… not the best of subjects.. I -am- buying all the single issues, but I would like to buy a TP to share with friends, and get THEM hooked.)

  4. I read the blog because I like Peter Davids work not the other way around. I suspect It may even be better to let the work speak for itself when you have the body of work Mr. David does.

Someone finding this blog is likely to know who Mr. David is and already be a fan , so the only likely change would be that some disagreement over some political/religious/etc opinion might sour that fan.

That’s based on my experience that if I talk long enough I’ll say something stupid (or at least annoying to someone), so your milage might vary 😉

Happens to me all the time (particularly when I’m talking to an attractive member of the appropriate sex)….

But…gorgeous cover. One of my favorites…

I’m here as a dissenting example, then; I’d read some things before finding this blog but felt mostly “Eh” towards them–they were okay, but didn’t really inspire me. Since I started reading this blog I’ve read a lot more things and been a lot happier with the stuff I read.

  7. Nice cover. I’ll buy it, but is that flame coming out of the guy’s chest? BO? Still very pretty cover and imagery.

Click on the hyperlink “Fallen Angel #10” in Peter’s text. But since it appears as a pop up if you have pop up blocking engaged, you’ll have to disable it. (or I think cntrl-and click might do it for some browsers)

  9. It looks like the story line is getting creepier…it looks vaguely like one of those Italian horror movies by Dario Argento that dips deeply into good people being forced to do horrible things. Plus, it almost looks like one of the “painted” covers that used to be done for Gold Key comics. Which, in fact, gave that so-so line of comics a real gloss and polish. (And a painted cover hasn’t been done on anything outside of Alex Ross for years now. Maybe this might be more interesting than cutouts or hologram foil covers? And selling paintings, instead of art boards, would net the artists more cash – assuming DC would let them retain ownership.)

  10. Actually, the color and deep saturation remind me of the covers Tony Harris used to do for Starman (as opposed to his current cover work).

  11. hmmm, I can’t see it either. I don’t have any pop-up controls active, and whenever I click on the link it takes me directly to the comments page.

    What gives?

  12. Never mind.

I was clicking on the word “link” at the bottom of the post rather than on the words “fallen angel” in Peter’s text.

    Gorgeous cover, by the way.

Um, it looks more like a woman to me who had flame coming out of her chest. She doesn’t seem to have an Adam’s apple and her seeming lack of breasts could have more to do with the fact that she’s not wearing any support. Or maybe I’m just crazy.

PAD, would it spoil it too much to tell us whether it’s a man or a woman?

In any event, the flame coming out of the chest is a great image. It reminds me of various religious images: the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary images in Catholicism/Christianity (which ties in very well with the nun on the cover) AND the heart of devotion of the Hindu god Hanuman.

  14. I caved just bought the first six issues of fallen angel last week. Loved them all. Am offically hooked back into buying a monthly comic (considering how all I usually buy are trades). Count me in as one of the website readers who’s started buying the book.

  15. quick question: what week of the month is fallen angel released? one thing that turned me off monthlies was that if you missed the week it was released and your store was out of copies, in my case, I’m SOL. wanna make sure I’m ontop of it so I don’t miss it.

    It’s a woman. That’s Black Mariah.

The next issue of “Fallen Angel” comes out this week, I believe. So whatever the shipping week this week is, that’s it.
