I’m curious.
Right now, Gods Above is ranked at #349 on Amazon. Stone and Anvil is at #1481 and No Limits is at #1246, but neither of them have even shipped yet.
What I want to know is, can we push those numbers even higher? Can we get Gods Above into the top 250,and Stone and Anvil and No Limits into the top 1000?
If we can, it’ll truly help illustrate how useful this website is, and how much we can use it to help push some of Peter’s other projects along. By demostrating how strong Peter’s fan base is, we’ll be much more likely to get other projects going just on the strength on you, the fans of his work, which we can use to convince publishers to print some of Peter’s other work.
And if it goes even higher… well, I’m sure I can come up with something special to put on the website…
UPDATE: 6 PM — Gods Above is at 294 on the list, and is at #12 for Science Fiction and Fantasy. Keep it up! The bat is– oops, wrong weblog.
BRIDE OF UPDATE: 7:45 PM No Limits is now up to 942. Yow! Just a brief mention, and you make it happen. Amazing. (Dare I hope for top 500?)

Oy.
Wouldn’t be a problem Glenn, if I didn’t support our local brick & mortar shop and I’ve already ordered them!
Done and done.
Well, I had already bought Gods Above at Barnes and Noble, but I did order the other two from Amazon. Never let it be said I didn’t do my part.
BTW, Gods Above kicks major butt! I got it last night and I’m already 120 pages into it!
I got Gods Above at the local B&N, but I ordered the others on Amazon before I even read this entry.
Oh, and I finished “Gods Above”. My only complaint, without spoiling anything, is that I’ve seen that ending before in many stories including the various incarnations of Star Trek. It’s quite cliche’, really.
I pre-ordered all three new NF books from Amazon.com as soon as they were listed at Psi Phi and that was months ago.
They told me that Gods Above is on its way but so far, no news when the other two books will be sent off.
I ordered the anthology through Amazon but ordered the other two through my comics retailer since Amazon was offerring 30% off of the hardcover with no shipping costs but no there was no discount on the paperbacks. Since I do get a discount at my local comic store, I ordered those through Previews. Many of the other regular visitors to this website may have done the same so don’t be discouraged if the Amazon numbers don’t go up as much as you’d hope. I buy most of my hardcovers and trade paperbacks from Amazon these days due to the no shipping offer and 30% discount but its good to know I can still find some bargains in the smaller brick and mortar stores.
I’ve ordered Stone and Anvil off the B&N website, so that’s a waiting game. I tried to get a copy of Gods Above from my local (Puyallup, WA) Borders, but they seem to have misplaced all the copies of it. One of these days, I’ll find it….
Someone needs http://www.junglescan.com/ badly ^_^
already ordered all three from bn.com last week. oh well.
Already bought Gods Above from Borders, so can’t help there. Stone and Anvil’s on the birthday/X-Mas list, so that’s a guaranteed Amazon purchase, albeit not by me. As for No Limits, I’ll play it by ear.
I always order my books through my comic shop so that I get my nice little discount. 😉 Picked up Gods today and the others are already on order.
I too order my books through my local comics shop. Not only because I get a discount, but I like to support the hobby shops when I can.
I ordered Gods Above from Barnes and Noble but they misrouted it. So by the time I got it today, I had already gone to borders and read the whole thing. Hopefully Amazon.com does better for the next two books I ordered.
I pre-ordered Gods Above at my local B&N and will pick it up on Friday. I didn’t theother 2 were out. Thank God tomorrows Payday!
How about some other stats for these books? I stopped ordering from Amazon.com and other book companies that ship books because my books always arrive in less-than-perfect condition. A bent corner here, a wrinkled page there. It’s really frustrating, so I only ever use it for books I can’t find in bookstores. But what about the general sales figures for, at least, Gods Above?
I’m curious too if numbers are in from bookstore purchases. I also bought Gods Above at Borders. Are pre-order numbers at Amazon more important? Or just that they are an easily determined number? And what about putting in requests at bookstores? Is that a number that you can obtain?
Oy.
Are pre-order numbers at Amazon more important? Or just that they are an easily determined number?
Just easily determined. It’s something that can be run as a semi-simple control.
Glenn,
Normally I would be glad to take part in this little experiment but I haven’t bought anything from Amazon for close to two years. I can almost always find things cheaper at Booksamillion.com or buy.com. Sorry.
