“I finally figured out why the theme to Teen Titans sounds familiar. It’s an anime version of Secret Agent Man.” She’s right.

I did get a real 60s vibe from the backbeat of that song, but I couldn’t pinpoint what it reminded me of.
Thanks.
Oh yeah, absolutely. By episode 2 I was singing the “Secret Agent” lyrics along with it.
Now you want a great animated theme song: “Duck Dodgers,” done in the style of “Thunderball” and sung by Tom Jones.

That Teen Titans theme is insidious. First time I heard it I hated it. Second time I didn’t mind. Now I hum along with the dámņ thing when I catch the show.
The show on the other hand is just a load of fun. Nice to see some good old fashioned cartoon heroism featuring the Titans. Good stuff.
No, if you want a GREAT animated opening theme, you want “Firewall”, episode 3.1.3 from ReBoot. It’s done to the song “Thunderball” and the animation is very Bond-esque.
The opening sequence, in fact, is a direct tribute to the opening of “The Spy Who Loved Me”. Fantastic stuff.

Nothing from reboot tops the show-ending season three recap to the tune of Modern Major General.
Thank you. I will now have that stuck in my head all day. In retaliation…
This is the song that doesn’t end
Yes, it goes on and on, my friend
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was
And they’ll continue singing it forever just because

…I hope that settles that.
It reminds me of the Bionic Six theme song from 1988. I hated it at first but it started to grow on me. Subliminal messages are surely being sent to our brains (a la John Carpenter in They LIVE)

Most of my friends heard the Johnny Rivers “Secret Agent Man” aspect of the song. But it also has the feel of the B-52’s “Rock Lobster” (or maybe the theme from “The Munsters”) in the bass line. And in the bridge, the cheerleading part sounds a lot like “Hey, Ricky, you’re so fine/You’re so fine you blow my mind/Hey Ricky!/Hey Ricky!”
In one of the Cartoon Network shows, the opening theme was sung in Japanese. It just begs for someone to subtitle it in English with new lyrics, a la “MST3K.”
They’ve been alternating the English and Japanese versions of the theme for the past few weeks. (I wonder if they do that in the Japanese version too? It wouldn’t surprise me.)
Maybe this is a trend? “Big O’, Season 2 (co-produced by the Cartoon Network) uses the “UFO” theme as background music in a lot of episodes.
ReBoot was definately a fun series to watch, short-lived as it was.
I wonder if they ever went through on the plans to make new episodes.
They made two Reboot movies a couple of years ago, which were cut up into episode-length chunks and broadcast on Cartoon Network. (Without any fanfare at all, unfortunately, so most people probably missed it.) They did wrap up most of the dangling plotlines from previous seasons (the first movie dealt with Daemon, for example). If there’s any justice they’ll be released on DVD someday…
At The Adventure Dome in Circus Circus in Las Vegas… they’re going to have a virtual reality “ride” based on Reboot.
