General Wesley Clark is supposedly about to declare candidacy for president.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you could clock with an egg timer how long before he starts getting asked about “Don’t ask, don’t tell” and the entire subject of gays in the military.

I think Northstar’s comment above comes close to hitting the nail on the head, that we should be intolerant of intolerance.
I’m glad you knew what I was saying (since I accidentially typed it as “we should be intolerant or” instead of “of”). I really should proofread :0).
Plus I thought some of your responses were to me, as my name is Dave. :0)
For the most part this has been a very civil discussion of a normally inciting subject. Thank you, I’ve learned a few things.
The difference between anal sex and alcoholism is that one is an activity and the other is an addiction. The reason one seeks to intervene for an alcoholic friend is that they have lost a certain degree of control of their own choices. They are no longer making informed consent when they drink, because chosing NOT to drink will lead to VERY unpleasant PHYSICAL results. And the risks associated with alcoholism go far beyond the medical ones, since it impedes one’s ability to function in all aspects of life. I don’t know a lot of people who miss work because they were too gay the night before…
If you want to compare homosexual sex to something, compare it to normal social drinking. There is some elevated health risk involved, but these risks can be mediated by most responsible adults if they have access to the right information.
I have certainly expressed concern to friends who I thought were placing themselves at an increased health risk, be it through promiscuous or unprotected HETEROSEXUAL sex, driving drunk (or too fast or in an unsafe car), poor eating habits, or not seeing the doctor when they should. But that hardly justifies condemning entire categories of behavior (like, say, driving, or the occasional fast-food binge) because they can pose a health risk if engeged in recklessly.
AND, lest we forget, there are plenty of gay WOMEN out there. If we are using health risk as a gauge, being a lesbian is preferable to being a straight woman…
I am conducting a Google search and ran into your site. I am researching the prevailence of Navy “tough man” test. Seems it involves sodomizing a new submarine sailor with a grease gun after daring him to put his thumbs in a vise. My husband still has nightmares about this. Have any of you heard of it ? It was on one website so far; “Remember fûçkìņg with nubs? Telling them it was their turn to be the “sea bìŧçh.” Having them do the “he man test.” Putting their thumbs in a vise and when it was tight as they could stand, pull down their pants and leave them there. Maybe have some fun with a grease gun.”

If any of you know of the Spy Magazine article I could not find it on the web. Sodomy as part of an initiation rite can change a life forever ..and has no place in the Military or elsewhere. Thank you for any help.
You can’t be 75601 serious?!?
