The troll hammer just went up on the “Buffy” auction. I bid on it. I’m currently the high bidder. I expect that to last about as long as it takes me to finish typing this entry. But hey, it was fun while it lasted.

It’s called a scythe for the same reason that Aquaman’s hand was called a hook, despite the fact that it was a harpoon. I don’t know what that reason may be, but, I’m sure it exists.
Well, no, it’s different. In Aquaman’s case, the creator of the weapon–i.e., me–always referred to it correctly as a harpoon. Fans who wanted to be condescending and say that I’d turned Aquaman into Captain Hook kept calling it a hook, and that’s what others who knew no better called it.
In this instance, it’s backwards. The creator is calling it, incorrectly a scythe, and the fans are the ones getting it right.
