FALLEN ANGEL #2

Just to remind everyone there’s an actual book…here’s the Brian Stelfreeze cover for issue #2.

  1. It’s beautiful.

Though the mask reminds me of “V” for Vendetta, and since it is male (no mistaking that mustache), it makes me wonder if she’s supposed to be a cross-dresser. I suppose the other interpretation is the woman who stands behind the man, like Laura Holt in the Remington Steel series… or perhaps the wife of a man who is so much into his work or one task that he is like robot or marionette.

The background reminds me of some of the alien baddies in Bab 5… and I suppose the drugs will fit into the story strongly — though it would be interesting to find out there’s an apothocary link instead of a drug addict link… though the shadows on her arm indicate bondage… perhaps to her secrets.

The western monk-like robe could mean she’s in a secret society.

Overall coolness and decent foreshadowing of layers of meaning and mystery.

  2. This beautiful cover puts just one thought into my head:

    Man-Bat!

    Am I alone on this…?

  3. Hmmm, definitely not Man-Bat. It looks to me more like a pre-Paul Kirk Manhunter mask.

  4. OK, I can’t look at that cover without thinking “WHAT THE HÊLL IS THIS ABOUT?”

    Great stuff.

  5. I dunno. I loved Stefreeze’s 90’s work, but this cover and the last one you posted don’t look like his best rendering.

And what’s with the Bat ears, Peter? Does Batman make a guest shot in this issue?

  6. Wow!

I hope that Stelfreeze’ll make more (or all the) covers of Fallen Angel.

I’m looking forward to this series; can’t wait!

  7. Very nice. PAD, can a person who didn’t read Supergirl regularly still enjoy this series fully, do you think?

I’m dropping Bruce Jones’s sh*tty Incredible Hulk book soon, so I might as well replace it. And this looks good…

  8. Yeah, I think angel wings would make more sense, but then again there was that whole “wings-change-appearance-as-the-angel-becomes-corrupted” motif in ‘Supergirl”. Whatever. Nice cover, regardless.

What, exactly, is sexist about it, JimO? I don’t see it.

  9. Oh, right, the ‘Dangerous Curves’ thing. My apologies, JimO. As title ideas go, it’s hardly worth the rancor it’s received, but it IS a bit Pamela Anderson, isn’t it?

  10. I immediately thought of “V for Vendetta” as well.

Looks cool though, I’ll be picking it up!
