No, it’s not grooming tips (yeah, like I’d be the one to come up with those.) I forgot to mention that I’ll be appearing today at Jim Hanley’s Universe in Manhattan, 4 W. 33rd Street, from 4 to 7 PM for a “Captain Marvel” releated signing. Then let’s all clock with a stopwatch how long it takes signed copies of CM to show up on ebay.
Also, for those within range of Stony Brook University, I’ll be appearing on the radio show “Destinies” this Friday at 11:30 PM. “Destinies” airs on WUSB, 90.1 FM, Stony Brook, NY, and can be heard via RealAudio through links at the WUSB website. After September 24 or 25, the program will be rebroadcast online in rotation at Cosmic Landscapes.

I had a signed copy of a Mark Mcgwire card once, years ago. My friend’s brother stole it and sold it to a card store (this was before ebay). He got twenty dollars for it. One day I went to hang out with my friend, and when his brother went to the bathroom, I went to the brother’s room and removed twenty dollars from his wallet. He never found out and I was compensated. Thus, justice was served. The moral: it’s tacky to have things signed and then immediately sell those things.
I love having stuff signed by people i enjoy. And i always make sure that the items are personalized and always ask if the person can write a “weird” message on it.
It makes for great framed art/pictures.
doh! i forgot what i wanted to post.
When i was managing my local comic store, we had the chance to get Michael Turner right after the first issue of Fathom. I asked the customers to limit their items to around 10 books, to give everyone a chance.
I was busy making c.o.as but noticed the same person a couple of times… the guy had a long box of books in his car and was going back and forth with “10 new books” all afternoon…
Karma got him back when his girlfriend caught him cheating and sold us all his books. [we didn’t know it was his books until 6 months later]
Why does business, greed and stupidity seem to dominate and ruin a medium that is supposed to be creative escapism from just those things? Argh!
Had I known about this sooner (didn’t see the post until after it was over), I’d’ve come by with the two copies of CAPTAIN MARVEL #1 I bought. (Oh, and I bought zero copies of MARVILLE #1.)

Do you ever make it to Dallas for any reason? I’d love to swing by and thank you in person for writing such great stories.
I have been to Dallas, yes, but not for a while.
