The most gorgeous book I've ever had my name attached to

IDW's Premiere edition of "Fallen Angel."

I just got a copy and it is absolutely beautiful.

Yeah, just go ahead and rub it in. You've got yours. Sadly, mine is still on back order.

Likely what's happened Jerry is that he got his copy ahead of general release.
I won't go into details here, but this was one book that I scrimped, saved and made whatever arrangements to make sure I get this book. Can't wait.

Actually, the listings I saw on it had a May 30 release date for the thing.

I've been eagerly awaiting this thing's release (I'm actually the one that just e-mailed you yesterday asking when Amazon was going to get more copies in). This is very good news.

Hmm, my shop hasn't gotten it yet, and they're very good about things, haven't disappointed me yet (Hi, Rembert!) Amazon gives a publishing date of May 25th but says orders'll take them 1-2 months.
Hopefully I'm right, and we'll all enjoy our own copy very soon.

The IDW people are sure showing you some love. Maybe you should consider going exclusive with them? Come on... I'm sure their Angel and Star Trek titles are mighty tempting. Season 6 of Angel... Season 4 of Star Trek... Gorgeous hardcovers containing your work...

IDWs website claims a July 4th release.

I am REALLY looking forward to this one!

That's great news.

Any idea if DC are going to release a vol.3 of the DC stuff?

Posted by: Jerry Chandler at June 21, 2007 11:45 AM

That's good to see on the release date. Deep Discount must have listed it wrong or listed an earlier set date and never corrected it. I was begining to worry that I wasn't going to get mine.

I'd never read, or even so much as seen, a single installment of Fallen Angel until a few months ago. I'd heard *about* it, of course, and was vaguely interested in giving it a try, but you know how it goes sometimes: I live in a small town where the only comics distribution is through traditional newsstand-level outlets like grocery stores. I supplement my buying habits online, of course, but I'd never gotten around to trying Fallen Angel sight unseen.

When PAD first mentioned this IDW Premiere collection, I finally took a leap of faith and ordered the two trades from DC. Almost immediately after reading those, I back-issued the rest of the DC run, and pre-ordered the IDW book through the local bookstore. (That's a shopping tip for folks who prefer to support their local economy when they can; remember, "regular" bookstores often have access to trade paperbacks and graphic novels even when they can't necessarily get monthly issues.) Fallen Angel is now on my monthly pull list.

I guess the point of me saying all this is just my way of acknowledging, "Hey, Peter, Fallen Angel is damn fine work, even compared to all the other damn fine work you've done over the years. Thanks, to you and everyone else who's struggled to bring Fallen Angel to life and keep it there."

Quick side note to any Fallen Angel fans who may not have noticed: PAD graciously offers a couple of dandy Fallen Angel items through CBLDF.org. Go over and take a look if you haven't lately; it's good stuff for a good cause.

I am REALLY looking forward to this book.

Peter, you mentioned the possibility of JK and you signing it -- any update on that.

Thanks again for a great series.

It's signed, all right. Every issue has a special frontplate affixed to it with JK's and my signature on it.

"Deep Discount must have listed it wrong or listed an earlier set date and never corrected it. I was begining to worry that I wasn't going to get mine."

Deep Discount's computer has a few bugs and they don't seem to correct that date. One bug is that they call one of the DC collections "Fallen Angel: The Premiere Collection" - and this one their selling for $11.69. Then they have two collections called "Fallen Angel 2: To Rule in Hell". Luckily there are different cover images associated with each of these. This is a common problem with the search engine on Deep Discount. Do a search for the Modesty Blaise collections from the past few years and every single one of them comes up with "Modesty Blaise: Mister Sun also featuring The ..." with different covers. That does not inspire me to order from them.

I just re-read the entire run of Fallen Angel over the past weekend (except for two DC issues which I appear to be missing; I'll have to try to rectify that). I don't generally buy multiple packagings of the same series; but, with this collection, of this title, I'm becoming quite tempted...

Just wanted to bump this book. If comes out tomorrow at comic shops near you!

Got the book yesterday and you're right, it really is a beautiful book. Loved the short story with the Boss.

Posted by: Neil at July 16, 2007 10:20 PM

It truly is a nice-looking book. One (very) minor gripe is that I kind of hoped it would have all of the variant covers included.

Still worth the price of admission (even though those extra covers were missing, and I already have the single issues!)

Great job to you and JKW.
