Calling all fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Peter David or (best of all) both. Want to go on a little adventure to kick off Necronomicon. Check this action: The beautiful San Marco Theater in Jacksonville is going to be screening two of the most acclaimed "Buffy" episodes ever at 11 PM Friday, October 28: "Hush," followed by the karaoke version of "Once More With Feeling." Organized by none other than Peter's daughter, Shana, the showing will not only feature Rocky Horror-esque audience participation, but extras including a trivia competition with nifty prizes courtesy of IDW, the publishers of the "Angel" and "Spike" comics.
Now Peter's going either way, but we've come up with a plan if enough hardy souls are interested in going along..."

Excuse me, Peter, um, that announcement seemed to omit "Organized by ... Shana, the singing led by Peter".

I'm confused. Is it in Tampa or is it in Jacksonville? They are about 4 hours apart.

And yes, I know Tampa and Jacksonville are four hours apart. It's all explained on the website. Anyone who is confused is confused because they didn't go click on the website for the full details as I explicitly said to do.

Necronomicon is a great little convention that I have many fond memories of -- I used to go just about every year when I lived in Tampa. Wish I could go this year -- I'd even go on the "field trip" -- but I live in Pensacola now, and it's a LOOOOONG drive. But I recommend the Con and would do so even if Peter weren't attending.
Sounds cool, including/especially the "Hush" and "Once More, with Feeling" stuff.

Sorry to hijack the thread, or post OT anyway, but I just got the new Wizard and I wanted to tell you I really enjoyed the interview. I came to comics late in life (15 years old) and while I've been reading for 12 years now, I really never got into the fandom until about 5 years ago. It was very enlightening to see some expansion on, and history behind, some of the feuds and stories that are often alluded to (Byrne v. David, for one) but seldom explained.
I wish I could make it to WW Texas, but I can only afford one Con a year and Chicago's too close to justify going elsewhere. I hope you can make it to Chicago next year.
On a somewhat related note, it was stumbling on a cousin's two year stack of David-penned Incredible Hulks that really set my mind to wander through the four-color pages. Even though I wound up being a DC-phile, I think those Hulk stories were the some of the best I've read in comics.
I was an avid collector of Supergirl for the entire run (although I managed to miss #76 and 77 - anyone want to donate?) and was very bummed to see it cancelled. I also picked up Young Justice from the beginning until the Great Poorness of 1999 and missed the rest of the series. I'm backfilling now. You are consistently one of my favorite writers and it thrills me to see you given some props by those folks over at Wizard who too often go ga-ga over the latest flash-in-the-pan-of-the-month.

Con Game 09:14 PM
Okay, let's imagine you're staging a horror movie convention this weekend out in Northridge, California. Let's imagine that you line up as guests, the usual array of fright film actors who'll sell and sign photos of themselves. Let's also imagine that this kind of convention hasn't been doing so well lately and some are anticipating a very low attendance. What can you do to really boost attendance?
Hmm...let me think for a second...
I know! Bring in a real, live murderer to sell autographs for $100 each!

San Marco Theatre may be the greatest place to see a movie, ever. They have two of my favorite things, pizza and beer, as well as a full menu for dining or snacking. I cannot recommend this strongly enough.
I used to work there when I lived in Jacksonville, and that little art deco theatre brings a smile to my face any time I think of it.
