How to explain the 20 year gap?

As Peter mentioned, there will be a twenty year gap between the end of the old Fallen Angel series and the start of the new one from IDW. So what happened in the meantime?

Now it can be told! Peter will be writing 1040, a weekly comic book for the next 20 years that will explain everything. Crossing over with all of Peter's other projects, past and present, this will explain everything. Expect to see how this all tie ins with Soulsearchers and Company, Star Trek: New Frontier, Knight Life, Howling Mad, Space Cases, Oblivion, Rocketeer, Swamp Thing, Green Lantern, Blasters, Dreadstar, Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Factor, and Hoppy The Marvel Bunny, to name just a few. It's the crossover Peter's always dreamed of writing.

Pencils will be done by Neal Adams, who claims that he's finally got that timeliness thing licked and is ready for the challenge of a weekly book. Inks will be provided by Vince Colletta, who is returning from the dead for this once in a lifetime series. And coloring the book will be John Byrne, who's wanted to work with Peter for a long time.

What? Of course I'm telling the truth! Look, would I come in here again and post something without Peter knowing abou-- oh, hi, Peter. What? Oh, nothing, just doing some maintenance on the web site. Don't mind m-- Peter! Put down the sledgehamjweruioghjv8jbcw [[NO CARRIER]]

I'll wait for the trades.

I'd settle for just crossing over with Green Lantern.

He better work Mark Hazzard and Spygirl into the crossover somehow.

Glenn -- if the series is to last exactly 20 years, the title should be 1043 or 1044. Every year has at least 1 day more than 52 weeks in it. 2 days more in leap years. There should be 5 leap years in a 20 year period. So there will be 25 days left after issue 1040.

Let me guess, Lee turns out to be McHenry's second cousin once removed. :0)

...before waking up in a cold sweat and promising himself that he will never, EVER order the double-anchovies-with-triple-pepperoni pizza again.

P.S. John, your "I'll wait for the trades" response is probably on my list of top ten one-liners ever seen on this site. Very well played.

Yes! Ms. Mystic #5! The wait is over!

Speaking of neal, in case anyone's interested in what he's been up to, head on over to http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.03/adams.html.

long story short--he's working on a graphic novel that will explain that everything we thought we knew about Earth Science is wrong and the Earth is actually expanding. The article describes it thusly: It's like My Dinner With Andre costarring L. Ron Hubbard.

Can't wait (though with Neal those are poorly chosen words indeed).

Continuity Studios, my ass....

Seriously tho, hilarious post, Glenn. One sorely needed to wake me up this morning.

What, no Apropos? what a gyp.

Acually I was about half though before I figured out it was a joke.

Tim - I knew I had the responsibility inherent in the first response, so I did my best.

Mr. Adams has been working on that for about ten years. I think we will be able to see continental drift actually happen before he's done:-)
