Over on Newsarama, the first seven pages of "Fallen Angel #1" are up. You might want to check 'em out.

Crapdamnit, that looks AWESOME!!

Almost a shame to mess the pretty pictures up with all those nasty words. ^_^

I was kinda sad not having Mr Lopez along for the new series, but this looks even more amazing.

Can't wait to read the first issue!

(Aw, knew I spent too much time on Newsarama - I'm not the first to post a reply. Well, at least I had the least slow-down I've ever had over there.)

VERY impressive artwork! Very close to photograph quality. (I hope the lettering won't look strange over the illustrations. As long as it doesn't look like someone taped voice bubbles over photos ....) The art could help bring brousers (granted, of course, the stores are carrying it - the "Spike: Old Times" sell-out should help with that, I should think) into the series; it certainly shouldn't drive anyone away.

So, we'll be learing Lee's origin? I guess that's the end of the "Supergirl" possibility; oh well :)This preview has me even more strongly anticipating the return of the series (and cool to see the blog mentioned in the article over there, too).

I'll third the 'awesomes', and provide a link.

Can't wait. (well, I guess technically I'll have to. But the sooner Fallen Angel arrives in my hold box once again, the happier I'll be.)

When is the first issue of "Fallen Angel" due to be out?

Damn beautiful (pun intended)

Looks good, and I'm eager for the relaunch. According to my local comic shop, everyone who subscribed to the old series is automatically getting the new one too, so it should be reaching a few people who haven't seen the advance publicity.

Heh. Panel four reminds me of the last episode of Buffy.

Drool. Drool, drool. Yummmmmmm. I certainly didn't need any convincing, but if I had, this would have worked. Then again, I'm not very objective about this book. Looking forward to the holiday season!

Man, I can't wait for this series! Is it going to be monthly or quarterly? That art is amazing.

Can I jump right into this title, or do I need to read the first series to know what is going on?

Posted by: NIko Z. at September 9, 2005 03:07 AM

Man, that looks amazing. I'm also sad that Lopez is off the book, but the new artist will also mark a new beginning, as it seems.

Looking forward to it.

20 year jump??

Posted by: BigCheese at September 9, 2005 01:49 PM

Dave:

According to the article, you can jump in without needing to read the previous series as all will be explained. Of course, I would recommend tracking out the DC series just because it's really good.

Fallen Angel...so, so good. The kind of comic I'd love to write one day.

I feel like Keanu. I'm all..."Whoa."

The art looks amazing, PAD. I look forward to it.

The art looks great...but I'm trying to "hear" Lee's tone. It'll take some getting used to, I think. Kind of like getting used to a new actor playing James Bond.

1Yes, the pages are brilliant. You know, Peter, it's frustrated me for a while that you have not recently had the opportunity to work with top notch illustrators in the field. In the past (when you were considered a "hot" commodity rather than an old dog in the field) you were working with many of the finest talents. It's confounds me that someone like Grant Morrison (another favorite of mine) seems to be able to be attached to a lot of buzz around a project and hot talents like Frank Quitely yet Peter who is much more prolific and also very popular amongst fans of science fiction/fantasy has not gotten the attention he deserves. It seems like your career is getting some new juice lately (what with FNSM, X-Factor, FA). I'm really amped about the relauch and hope we see lots of Black Mariah (she's so cool!). Also, it would be nice to know more about Lee. I know that she's supposed to be kind of a mystery but I've found myself falling in love with the supporting cast and feeling luke warm about Lee. She's so cold and i don't yet feel like she is fully fleshed out because she's been so cloaked in shadows.
Hopefully, the PAD curse has been lifted and you can get back to writing a series for a length of time without cancellation! Congrats!

20-year gap? So we'll get to see FA's kid as an adult...

Well that's different. Morrison invented Frank Quitely. (Possibly using an easy back oven.) In any event Quitely became a hot artist by working with Morrison. Can anyone name anyone who became a hot artist by working with Peter for years and years?

Todd McFarlane and Dale Keown, just to name two. It's understandable that you wouldn't remember Todd, though -- he doesn't seem to remember it, either.

Todd doesn't count. He's actually a lab mouse plotting global domination.

'Bigcheese' I've been trying to track down the first series for quite some time, but the price just keeps going up and up. I switched stores and ordered the new series. I still can't believe '???' didn't pull the first series for me knowing what a fan I am of PAD!!!
