According to Bob Greenberger's website (which you can go read for yourself by pressing on the link over on the right), DC is going back to press on the first "Fallen Angel" trade paperback. There's no more sure indicator of rising interest than that. Now we can only hope it presages a second collection of the obscenely difficult-to-find issues 7-12.
Keep the word getting out there, folks. Issues 19 and 20 are the make-or-break, and we need to take the two month delay and turn it to our advantage. Remember, if every retailer out there orders exactly one copy more than he's carrying now (and for a goodly number that would mean basically ordering a single shelf copy since many are only ordering sub copies) that alone will get the job done.

Damn. This sure is turning out to be a good day for you, isn't it....
You talked me into it. I hadn't bought a comic for probably four years. However, you piqued my curiosity to such a degree (I'd always been a PAD fan anyhow) that I went and bought the trade. Unsurprisingly...good stuff...and nice to see such quality mature content backed by a mainstream publisher. Now I'm working on the back issues...still seeking 6-9.
BTW, I was also surprised when I walked into the comic shop to see a current issue of Soulsearchers, still penned by PAD. Talk about two totally different comics...
Great i've been waiting for that wonderful news for a while now...
as for the 19-20 make or break, well i'll tell my retailer to reserve me 2 copies.
That is great news!
Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that the 2 month delay doesn't kill this momentum!
For FA fans (and PAD of course), this is wonderful. It's like Fallen Angel is the little title that could and we're all saying 'we think we can' over and over.
7-12 are obscenely difficult to get... but not impossible. I used Mile High Comics (on the web) and Fourth World here on LI.
Oh man! That kicks serious butt. I'm so excited! I hope this means good things for the next few issues. I missed a few issues due to lack of funds and it was a bit of a pain getting them but I did. My local comic store (which has a website you can order from - http://www.g-mart.com/ hooked me up with them. So if people still need to find them they might be able to do it.
This s great news, PAD! Good for you!
As for everyone else, instead of saving up money to buy an ad, use that money to order some extra copies of #19 and 20 and give them to people! This is it, guys. People can bitch about DC, retailers, etc. but this is one case where if we all care enough to get a few extra copies, it can make a real difference!
Oh yeah, and if the series does stick around, the success of the trade can only help the book gain buzz by making issues #7-12 "hot" for a while. Retailers will wonder why they didn't order more copies of a book that is suddenly rising in value...
Which is why, along with trade saturation, I don't think it would be a great idea to release Vol.2 too soon.
Let demand build to a fever pitch so that it helps the monthly, back issues, and the second trade in the long run!
Great news!
7-12 were some great issues and deserve to be collected. Lets hope this all works out because twenty issues just isnt enough.
Great news! :)
I just got my latest issue and can`t wait to see what will happen next.
So the book may still be cancelled after #20? :(
"So the book may still be cancelled after #20? :("
Well, that's pretty much what I meant by "make or break." That would be the "break" part.
Stan...all the orders I have for bookplates thus far have gone out. I shipped the first wave a few weeks ago, and the second wave went out two days ago. Sorry about the delay, but it's not as if I have an office staff to do this stuff.
PAD
Are you still offering the bookplates? How do we get one?
Not intending to imply that you were behind in this very worthy endeavor, PAD...just hadn't heard about it in awhile. Haven't received mine yet, and I can't wait to get it...besides, the book is so worth it! I hope my purchase helps keep it going- really want a Volume 2 TP because I cannot find any of the back issues...but I'm still 'alookin!
I'm astounded as to how the comic book market continues to exist if retailers are only ordering copies of such a great book for subscription only! Through the power of suggestion, this book now outsells most of the Vertigo line we carry in our store. The longer I stay in this business, the less I know. Sigh.
Wow...All About Books & Comics in AZ sells lots of FA on a monthly basis? Very cool. I knew there was a reason AAB&C was one of the best shops, period.:-D I was just out that way while on vacation last week.
That said: good to see a second printing of FA ready, and I hope that the title continues to find more of an audience. I've been reading since #1, in part due to PAD's promo material at Wizard World East in '03, and it just keeps getting better. I bought the trade to put my vote in, and got the bookplate (but where's the "extra gift" promised in the FA Trade Service program, PAD? Not that the bookplate itself isn't snazzy enough...). I also got some free #1's and am mailing them to friends. After hearing about the upcoming return of J.J. Sachs and Ernie "Violens" Schultz in FA #19-20, well, I broke down and bought (and read!) the Epic series, and was quite impressed.
Here's hoping the book keeps chugging along.
