GEEZ, IT'S QUIET

On the first night of Chanukah, Kathleen and Caroline are down visiting with Kath's folks in Atlanta...Ariel is with her mom this weekend...Shana and Gwen will be coming to visit, but not until Monday.

So it's me and the cats.

Yes...that's right. I'm all alone for the entire weekend. I can do anything. ANYTHING! I can go wild! I can...I can...sleep late! And...and work! Yes, work! Ahhh, but then, I can cruise around and pick up...presents! For the family, yes! Mwaaahahaha! I'm on fire now! And tomorrow night...tomorrow night's the berserk night! Tomorrow night...I'LL GO BOWLING! AS LATE AS I WANT! Or, y'know, until they turn on those stupid disco lights, and then I'll go home and work some more. And...and maybe stay up until midnight, at which point I'll...I'll watch a rerun of "West Wing!"

Yes, I'm out of control.

Oh, you party animal, you. Drinking milk right out of the container and everything....

Posted by: Jeff at December 19, 2003 09:23 PM

I can see it now. Peter sleeping late (almost until 9am), puttering around the house in just his underwear. A healthy breakfast of whatever take out food was left over from the night before. Plopping down on the couch watching cartoons, feet up on the coffee table. Sleeping until 1 or 2pm. Going outside to check the mail. Closing the door before going outside, and going to look for the pants he never put on in the morning.

Seriously Peter, enjoy the quiet alone time whenever you can!

-Jeff

...and maybe you can get a good start on the next New Frontier book...

here's a mental image: PAD in his underwear, jumping on the couch to Bob Seeger's "Old Time Rock And Roll".

No, don't thank me.

Clearly, we need to get Peter out of the house this weekend. Peter, feel free to fly out to the Bay Area; you can crash on my spare futon, and I owe you a meal or two anyway.

What makes you think this is different from his normal day?

Well, we can see where the newest run of Captain Marvel storylines originated from, can't we? Ahh the life of a successful multi-media author! A note to Peter's family--please come home before he resorts to watching a rental of "Gigli". Thank you.

Look out! He's running with scissors!

I can picture Kathleen come home and see just how busy Peter was this weekend since he never had the time to do any of the household chores she left for him. :)

Take care and Happy Chanukah!

Shine on, you crazy diamond.

Posted by: Stefano Priarone at December 20, 2003 02:31 AM

So you'll finally have time to answer the questions I sent you for the Italian magazine interview!

You have no excuses :-)

Have a good time and happy Chanukah

I suggest building a bowling alley in the long hall; use Chanukah doughnuts for balls and candles for pins. Terrific fun!!

Getting older is not for the faint of heart. Memory isn"t the first thing to go. Just think what you might have done at 17 with the house to yourself.... I don't think bowling and shopping would be high on your list. As for myself, (if I had alone time), I think I'd blow some of it on a nap.

Should we be looking forward to the "PAD Gone Wild!" video?

Posted by: Luigi Novi at December 20, 2003 08:20 AM

Since you're all home along for the first time in godknowshowlong, here's an inside tip: just make sure you don't slap on any aftershave right after shaving.

But if you want to scare the pizza delivery boy with the audio to a trashy old b&w crime thriller, go right ahead.

I've always found maturity to be shown by one's attitudes to sleep. Little kids *hate* going to sleep and will stay awake as long as they can. Adults love getting more sleep, and those of who work a lot think of getting 8 hours -- or, dare I dream, MORE!!! -- of sleep in an evening feel like they've been to the Bahamas.

And PAD, for your wild weekend... don't forget to read a few comic books :-)

If you don't sleep you can't write Peter's last thoughts for the night

Posted by: odessa steps magazine at December 20, 2003 12:56 PM

Hey, could we get last week's TV round-up?

Please?

I want to hear PAD's thoughts on the return of Will Tippin and new developments Rimbaldi.

Have a happy Hanuka, everybody! Maybe the greatest thing to do would be to go to the beach in the deep south and have some fun there!

Posted by: Ken at December 20, 2003 02:33 PM

I realize that you don't want comments on your "final thoughts" but I have to say that I am not an anti-Semite in any way, shape, or form but the God that I worship is a living Jew! He is not dead or the would be no reason to worship Him.

BTW, Peter, I wantd to thank you for the reccomendation of the Hulk Hands. I bought some for my nephew for Christmas, and it's hilarious how many people in my office had to play with them.

Posted by: Tom at December 20, 2003 05:08 PM

I like when people say, "I know you don't want people responding to the 'final thoughts'" and then proceed to do just that.

Hell hath no fury like PAD with free time on his hands.

Posted by: Jess at December 20, 2003 06:44 PM

Hey Peter

No need for pants or friends, and no family in sight. Welcome to my world.

BTW: At my RPG group meeting there was a surprisingly high number of your works given away. One Supergirl TPB, two New Frontier novels, and the day before I gave a copy of Apropos to my friend Joe. So, you should be getting a few cents royality check anyday now.

Doesn't your wife leave you a list of things to get accomplished while she's gone? That's how it works here.

I realize that you don't want comments on your "final thoughts" but I have to say that I am not an anti-Semite in any way, shape, or form but the God that I worship is a living Jew! He is not dead or the would be no reason to worship Him.

See, now when people shove literature at me on the streets, they always say, "He died for your sins!" Perhaps they should be saying, "He died for your sins...kidding! Actually, he's fine."

And yeah, it really does bug me when people ignore my wishes and comment on the final thoughts, especially when they say they know I don't want them to.

I actually get what you meant by "no comments please". Bearing that in mind, please forgive the end of my post.

I think I mentioned in another thread that my wife was days away from having our second child, and first son.

He was born 12/19/2003, 20.5 inches long, 8lbs 9oz.

My wife is fine.

My son is another story. He was flown to a nearby medical center that hasa neonatal ICU, because his lungs were partially collapsed, and not fully developed. They think it may be some mild infection, and have ruled out any sot of heart problem. They say his prognosis is excellent, he should be off the ventilator in a few days, and he should be home before the New Year (not before Christmas though. *sniffle*)

The whole point to this, is that I am asking the people I communicate with regularly to send a prayer or two to NE PA.

I figure a few additional prayers can't hurt Squirt's chances with the Father of the dead Jew mentioned in a last thought.

Thanks everyone, and Happy Chanukah.

Sorry to hear of your little one's predicament; my thoughts are with you. All the best for Squirt, Wolf, all the best.

David B.: put, even...damn fumble fingers.....

See, I kinda liked the image of a Peter David standing in a giant blender, holding a cat and screaming "He's gay!! Gay, I tells you, GAY!!!"
