LIBRARY APPEARANCE TODAY

For anyone interest and living in the area of Long Beach/Oceanside, I'll be doing a talk tomorrow at the Oceanside Library from 7:30 until whenever. I'll be doing readings of various stories of mine, answer questions (such as, I'm sure, the ever popular "Who are you again?") and give out free comic books.

With Long Island a frozen block of ice for the past two weeks, I will frankly be astounded if people turn out.

Er, is that Long Beach/Oceanside in southern California, or Long Island in New York?

Come to Minnesota!

Er, is that Long Beach/Oceanside in southern California, or Long Island in New York?

Since I mentioned that the difficult winter Long Island is experiencing would likely have a negative impact on attendance, I'd have thought it was pretty obvious considering Long Island's winter wouldn't really prove daunting to anyone living in Southern Cal.

it was probably just wishful thinking of those of us on the left coast that you might make an appearance in our neck of the woods. i know i thought that.

and hey, it is pretty damn cold here. yesterday it was like forty.

Be sure that although New Jersey is also doing a fairly accurate impression of an artic wasteland, my 12 year old son and I would certainly have brought out the dog sled and shlepped to the library to see you. Besides, the library has free books! :o)

When you mean "Library Appearance Today" talk tomorrow is this

Thursday 1/29/2004 or

Friday 1/30/2004?

Hey, there are enough NY transplants in southern California that a lot of them might well consider a Long Island winter daunting. (Of course, they'd then follow it up with, "but hey, at least I'M not the one dealing with it."

Hope the appearance goes well!

You mean it's NOT Oceanside in Southern California?

Dang, and I had my hand on the phone to call in sick tonight!!

Oceanside has a Library? I thought that place was all stores. But I'll find it.

I meant today, Thursday. I caught the mistake in the headline and made it "today," but missed the one in the body of the post.

As long as we're making requests for ya, you should hit Vegas. You'd be surprised how little things of interests happen in what's supposed to be one of the most popping places there is.

Nothing mildly intellectually stimulating ever happens here. Just shows of half-dressed women dancing all about in a provocative, "come hither" manner...

You know what? Now that I think of it, that's not so bad. But you should still come out here and preach the good nerd word, if only to me.

Yes, I'll quit writing now.

For what it's worth, the weather wouldn't have kept me from going (we Canucks are sterner stuff where winters are concerned ;-)) and the job is pretty easy going about working hours to allow for such events. If nothing else, I'd have said "Thank you" for the pleasure your works have given me and the friends I've recommended your stuff to.

I'd think it would be particularly daunting to people in California, being 3000 miles away AND really cold.

My point? No point. I"m not even entirely sure why I read this post; I'm in Florida after all.

ugh! I was banking on today being tomorrow. Guess I'll just catch you next time.....

No no, you should come to Arkansas. Trust me, it's ruddy exciting down here.

Really.

It is.

It was a lot of fun meeting you PAD.

All though I wish you hadn't dodged my Hulk question. :)

The library appearance was a big success. Is a good thing the weather contributed. Many folks here are fans and the attendance was very good. Nobody seems to mind the cold anymore...is the ice on the ground that is killing us.

Anyway. Thanks for the appearance
