Vote for Me for the Hugos

It is my understanding that authors are supposed to remain silent when it comes to allowing fans to decide which books should be nominated for the Hugos. I have abided by that for the entirety of my life, and it is a life that remains untarnished by science fiction’s highest award. “Sir Apropos of Nothing,” “Tigerheart,” “Imzadi,” my Crazy 8 books, all have not blemished a nomination ballot. I have been a full time writer for nearly thirty years and silence has gotten me nowhere.

Fine.

A book of mine called “ARTFUL” was published last year. Featuring the Artful Dodger going head to head with vampires in a pre-Victorian England, it has received a metric ton of four and five star reviews on Amazon (and a majority of one-star reviews were from people who didn’t actually read it.) I’m very proud of it. And I’m reasonably sure it is eligible for the Hugo, the World Fantasy award, and the Stoker.

I would very much like anyone who read it and loved it to consider nominating it for any or all of those awards.

Thank you.

  1. Do the Hugos have a fantasy/horror category? I usually reserve science fiction stories and novels for Hugo consideration.

However, there’s still the World Fantasy award and the Stoker.

    1. That should come as a surprise to J.K. Rowling who won for “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” and Neil Gaiman who won for “American Gods” and…nah, forget it. There’s too many to count.

  2. Well, I’ll do it. I got done with it a couple of weeks after your visit, and I loved it. I hope it helps.

  3. Check out http://www.thehugoawards.org/2015/01/2015-hugo-campbell-award-nominations-now-open/ for information on the nomination process. I’ll be nominating Artful (as well as Full Fathom Five by Max Gladstone and Ancillary Sword by Ann Leckie) in the novel category.

    Nominations close on March 10.

Besides the opportunity to nominate and then vote on the Hugos, being a supporting member of World Con gets you the Hugo packet to assist you with voting in the final awards. It includes a wealth of the nominated material and is well worth the cost and effort.
