I don’t know where most of you live, plus I have no idea if any of you decided to run in the Boston Marathon. So feel free to use this space to sound off that you’re okay.

Hey. Mr. David. I live in NJ, but, I heard the news about the Boston Marathon. I hope fellow Bostoners are okay.
Sending my thoughts & prayers out to you all.
I hope they’re able to catch the perp fast before he tries again. (I live in Michigan.)
I’m okay, just pìššëd. But I’m not hurt and nowhere near there. Hope everyone else chimes in okay as well. I remember at least a few people mentioning Boston as their stomping grounds back during the Terror of the Mooninites thread.
I’m fine, and I have an alibi.
Our thoughts in England are with the victims, their families, and the people of Boston in general. Most of the runners that would have been affected, would be the ones that were running for charity. Which makes this affront doubly hideous.
The news here is sketchy, but I understand they think that there were another 5 devices with did not go off, so if that is the case, it could have been far worse.
The London Marathon is coming up on 23rd April this year, Security has already been tightened because of the events in Boston.
Hello Peter:
Michael and I are fine, and have heard from nearly everyone who would have been in town yesterday. The bookstore keeps me tied down, so I don’t get into Boston as often as I used to, but we still have many friends there.
Good thoughts to you and yours.
—Patty
I’m stranded in Las Vegas where the biggest issue right now is lots of wind. Recovering from a particularly nasty kidney stone and otherwise okay. Hoping the authorities will quickly find out who did this unspeakable thing and bring them to justice.
I live on the other side of the continent, and I only run if something is chasing me, so I’m okay. I have a friend I haven’t heard from lately in the area, though – I don’t think he ran in the marathon, but Joel, if you’re out there, Hillary and I would like you to call!
For news on the investigation, watch for press conferences from Boston PD and the FBI. All the 24-hour news channels have to fill airtime with something about the bombing, and they aren’t supposed to just keep repeating the same things over and over, so sometimes they run with rumor and hearsay.
For instance, the Boston Police Commissioner would like to to be known that there were no unexploded devices; the person or persons responsible only used the two bombs. They do not have a suspect in custody, least of all a “suspected terrorist”; in my opinion, in fact, available data tend to suggest a domestic terrorist, probably a lone-wolf attack (but like all rumors, this should not be treated as factual, just my supposition). They would, however, like very much to have copies of all photos and video taken during the race, especially around the finish line – they’re kind of crowdsourcing the investigation, because here in the 21st century, cell phones are the countless eyes watching everything. (We don’t have Big Brother here – instead, we have millions of Little Brothers. A much more comforting concept, to my mind.)
Yeah, the mass media has not covered itself in glory with this one. And it looks unlikely to learn…
And there’s something in West, TX…..
*sigh* This is a crappy week.
Makes me sick that someone would do something like this. Those people were just trying to help a worthy cause, and some creep pulls this? Hope they find the SOB and off him in a slow, embarrassing, and CREATIVE manner.
Yesterday became one of those “You wonder about humanity” days.
Obviously, that something like this could happen in the first place…
But then to see all those who rushed into danger to help. The police, military members who happened to be there, the medical personnel, even the runners themselves. It helps restore some faith.
Unfortunately, afterward, there’s the rumor mill, the finger pointing and baseless accusations, all made easier by social media in a manner that the 24-hour news media is probably highly envious of. Some of the stuff I’ve seen on Twitter in the last 24 hours makes me wish I had the ability to reach through the interwebs and slap some people.
The spouse and I are fine.
Occasion poster, but mostly a lurker,

I live in Jersey, as I assume you recall Peter (a short walk from Glenn, in fact), but in the offhand chance you didn’t, well, there it is. And it gives me an excuse to say hi and express my hope that your continued recovery is proceeding apace. My best wishes to you and your family, and to everyone in Boston and their loved ones. 🙂
I’m okay. Haven’t posted in a dog’s age, but I’m okay.
In New Jersey as well, nowhere near Boston, but I have family up there, all of whom (fortunately) are just fine. Scary times.
I have extended family in Boston (my cousin’s sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law). They’re all fine, too.
And, like Luigi, I hope your own recovery is going well, PAD.
Rick
All is well in the Mulligan-Myers-Chandler-Scullian nexus.
Kind of wondering about this Waco fire. Glad to see the ricin stuff may not be a serious threat, unless one has always worried about crazed elvis impersonators, which I have.
Sympathies and condolences to all involved in this tragedy. However, if a report of one of the alleged suspects having a Web page where he gives his outlook on life as “Islam” turns out to be true … let’s just say life is probably going to get even tougher for anyone even looking like being of Middle Eastern descent in the U.S..
It is finally over! but unfortunately now the finger pointing will begin. At least the folks in Boston can get back to a somewhat normal life and hopefully everyone who was affected can do some real healing. Thoughts and prayers to all.
Wasn’t anywhere near it, but one of my neighbours was States-side participating in the Marathon and is okay, thankfully.
