“Dead of Knight…?”

Here’s a little challenge.

The sequel to “Knight Life” is tentatively titled “Dead of Knight.” It takes place some years after “Knight Life,” focusing on the presidency of King Arthur, how the threat of terrorists impacts upon it, and–just to keep it real–a search for the Holy Grail and a head-to-head conflict with an individual even more ancient than Arthur.

Now…my noble editor, Ginjer Buchanan, isn’t blown away by the title. She says it sounds like a vampire novel. So…any suggestions? Ideally with the word “Knight” in it?

    How about Knight and Day?

How about calling it “Not Another Knight Like This”?

D.B. Bennet’s right, I’ve spelled Knight so many time I’ve started seeing the letters for the word- where I’ve started noticing the juxaposition of letters in the word that seem funny.
(No, that wasn’t a title suggestion.)

Ya know, if you do pick one of these titles, the least you could do is send a comp copy of the book to the contributor.

Well actually, that’s not the least you could do- the least would be nothing at all… hmph.

I like “Death of Knight”. It fits to the title of the first novel. Maybe you can convince your editor. I think with this title she thinks of “Forever Knight”, the Canadian TV-series with the Vampire Cop Nick Knight. But I did not come to this comparision, the title does sound nothing like a vampire novel to me. What does a knight have to do with a vampire? Can’t understand her conclusion.

But if you have to choose one. From the possibilities which have been posted yet, I liked most:

    Knightmare
    A Knight to remeber.

I would not play too much with the similarity of Knight and Night. The reference would be to obvious with the most examples here. And that would be poor for such a talented author like PAD. But it is only fair to consider each possibility and take the best.

To eleborate on Adam Lipkin’s suggestion

‘In The Still Of The Knight’,

I would suggest tweaking it a little to get just

    ‘Still Of The Knight’.

I think this works better, the book being a sequel and all.

Okay, I’ll take my editor’s hat off now…

had “Knight of the Living Dead” been suggested?

I just want to personally thank all of you who posted knight puns here. I’m putting together a chess tournament at UCF and since our mascot is the Golden Knights I wanted to name our chess tournament with a knight pun. Thank you all for the inspiration, the one I’m going to use is “Bring On The Knight.” I also thought the most clever was “West Wing Knight.”
